Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology
Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas
Job Summary:
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology will have teaching responsibilities of courses that include Cell Biology and Microbiology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Developmental Biology, and Molecular Genetics. Non-teaching duties will include mentoring undergraduate research, student recruitment visits, retention, assessment, academic advising, and participation in committee work/service. In addition, faculty members are regularly engaged in the College’s Employment Experiences program through supervising and mentoring students who are fulfilling the requirements of this program within their departments.
Essential Functions:
- Facilitate student learning
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of Bethel College
- Mentor undergraduate research
- Participate in the recruitment process of students that meet departmental standards
- Foster the development of excellence in teaching within the department
- The ability to utilize effective teaching methods and strategies
- Promote collegiality and collaborative relationships with other Bethel College faculty and staff
- Satisfy the duties of an Official with Authority (OWA) and Mandated Reporter relating to Title IX and the Bethel College Equal Opportunity, Harassment, & Non Discrimination Policy and Procedures
Qualifications
- Technologically savvy
- Ability to successfully learn the college’s LMS
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, administrators, faculty, staff, and outside constituencies
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks under tight deadlines and stressful situations
Education and/or Experience:
- Ph.D. preferred; MS required
