We are delighted to host the 46th ABLE Conference at the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Manitoba (U of M) Fort Garry campus from June 24-28, 2025. The U of M, a prominent public research university, founded over 140 years ago is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and serves around 30,000 students. Our campuses are situated on the original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anisininewuk, Dakota Oyate and Dene, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis
Located just a 20-minute drive from the city center, the Fort Garry campus is nestled within a bend of the Red River and features state-of-the-art facilities, including four colleges, laboratories, teaching and learning spaces, and expansive green areas.
Winnipeg is a vibrant city celebrated for its arts, culture, and culinary scene, with ample opportunities for outdoor adventures. Some local points of interest include Assiniboine Park and Zoo, renowned for its Journey to Churchill exhibit (Churchill, Manitoba is known as the polar bear and beluga whale capital of the world). Assiniboine Park also features The Leaf, a spectacular indoor horticultural attraction with four distinct biomes and six outdoor gardens. The Forks, a national historic site located at the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers, boasts The Forks Market with numerous unique shops and eateries. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the only museum in the world dedicated solely to human rights, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery, which houses the world’s largest public collection of Inuit art, are also notable attractions. Additionally, just minutes from downtown is FortWhyte Alive, an urban nature space and environmental education center featuring forests, lakes, and trails that are home to a local herd of bison.

While Winnipeg experiences very cold winters, June is generally warm, with an average maximum temperature of 24°C (75°F). However, it is advisable to bring a long-sleeve shirt for the cooler evenings. During the time of ABLE, you will enjoy nearly 16 hours of daylight.
On behalf of the organizing committee at the University of Manitoba, we invite you to join us for ABLE 2025.
