Allegany College of Maryland (ACM), located in Cumberland, Maryland, is hosting a Regional Association for Biology Laboratory Education (RABLE) conference on October 5, 2019. Participants interested in various areas of biology will be able to experience a three-hour hands-on lab in the morning, and two medium, 1 hour 20 minute, lab workshops in the afternoon. Many of these workshops are designed for attendees to participate in the labs and activities as a student. Other workshop topics may include instructional techniques, assessment, and lab management. Presenters will provide essential information needed to implement the labs and activities into your courses.
ACM in Cumberland, Maryland, is situated in the ridge and valley province of the Appalachian Mountains. Cumberland is the upper end of the historic C&O canal. George Washington’s headquarters during the French and Indian War and the Whiskey Rebellion is located at the Historic Canal Place in Cumberland. ACM is nestled along the banks of Evitts Creek (North Branch Potomac River tributary) at the bottom of one of the ridges.
