The Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics of the University of Maryland seeks a full time, Professional-track (non-tenure) faculty to contribute to the undergraduate microbiology curriculum. The position begins on August 1, 2024. The appointee will primarily be responsible for the teaching and general administration of a new 200-level introductory microbiology course as well as teaching in a 100-level course in Principles of Molecular and Cellular Biology. The appointee will also work as a member of the department’s academic advising team. This is a 9-month position with opportunities for appointments to summer teaching and/or additional administrative duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. with demonstrated teaching and research in microbiology or molecular biology is preferred but strong candidates with a Master’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience will be considered.

Preferences:
Previous experience in microbiology, lab coordination and teaching assistant training is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as an interest in topics relevant to pedagogy and pedagogical research are desired.
