Laboratory Professional
University of Georgia Marine Institute on Sapelo Island
The University of Georgia Marine Institute on Sapelo Island (UGAMI) is accepting applications for a Laboratory Professional. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the UGAMI operations team, which is dedicated to providing users with exceptional opportunities for research and education in coastal ecosystems. The Laboratory Professional will coordinate laboratory facilities at UGAMI, ensuring that the Institute is compliant with environmental safety requirements, providing for safe and responsible use by visiting classes and researchers, assisting with instruction, coordinating asset management, and providing administrative support.
The position requires at least a baccalaureate in a related field, but candidates with a master’s degree and relevant experience will be the most competitive. Ideally, the candidate will have:
- a minimum of three years’ experience working in a laboratory
- experience with laboratory safety regulations
- experience with scientific permitting (for example GA DNR, IACUC)
- college laboratory instructional experience
- experience operating small boats
- ability to work effectively and collaboratively and to communicate clearly and professionally in both oral and written formats.
