Anna Wilson and her husband invited ABLE to the Strawberry Festival in Crawfordsville, Indiana not far from Purdue. There was a van of ABLE participants who attended this workshop. We got a royal tour of the town, the jail, the oldest most prestigious home, and other sites downtown. There were venders of flowers, jewelry, leather, and many other crafts. There was a stage where local talent entertained us during the morning. We all ate lunch at the festival and had a fried pork sandwich (to die for) and fresh strawberries offered in several recipes.
Then Anna and her husband took all of us to their not-in-production apple orchard farm on a beautiful creek out from Crawfordsville. We all hiked to the creek and looked for fossils, enjoyed all of Anna's collection of rocks, fossils, and stones, toured the old apple press and the barn, and enjoyed the front porch swing at the farm house. Susan Karcher joined us all at the farm house for supper on the front porch where we were served homemade hamburgers cooked by Anna's chef (her husband). The food was wonderful and the conversations and camaraderie were a nice way to end the great 2006 ABLE Conference...on the front porch of the farm house with the sun setting and the gorgeous large trees in the yard. This farm was the most beautiful get-away that many of us have ever been to. Thank you Anna.
