Tested Studies in Laboratory Teaching, 2008, Volume 29

Abstract

This case study is a progressive disclosure case concerning a real famine situation that arose in Kenya in 2006. Students learn about the issue and suggested remedies, consider the influence of demographic factors, and identify key issues and stakeholders. The progressive disclosure format allows the instructor to tailor the case to fit classes varying in length from 50 minutes to 3 hours. Options are presented for adapting the case to different courses. Information is also supplied about significant resources provided by the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science to support use of case studies.
